Co-design approaches to disease prevention policy
Why focus on the topic?
Disease prevention policy will require collective and coordinated action from global institutions, governments, and non-government actors to respond to threats to human and planetary health. However, there are still challenges embedded within governance of disease prevention policy that may inhibit collective action. Co-design offers a participatory approach to evidence integration and stakeholder engagement to inform disease prevention policy.
How is this research done?
This work aims to explore the potential use of co-design approaches in developing and evaluating effective policy for disease prevention. We are conducting qualitative interviews with experts in design thinking and co-design to develop practical guidance and tools to facilitate the use of these techniques by practitioners working in disease prevention and policy.
What do we expect to find and why it matters?
The findings from our work will provide researchers, practitioners, and policymakers with a range of co-design techniques and strategies that can be used to promote stakeholder engagement and cross-disciplinary evidence integration to inform policy.
